POTTERS CHURCH COMPASSION - LOVING GOD,
SERVING OUR CITY

Giving

Compassion is at the heart of our church, Loving God and sharing that love with people in our city and beyond.

In Isaiah 58 God calls us to ‘break the chains of injustice, get rid of exploitation in the workplace, free the oppressed, cancel debts.’ He is interested in seeing us ‘sharing our food with the hungry, inviting the homeless poor into your homes, putting clothes on the shivering ill-clad, being available to your own families.’ (MSG)

Here at Potters Church we give away 10% of our income to support people who are living to make this call into a reality.

INTERNATIONAL CHARITIES

COMPASSION INTERNATIONAL

CompassionUK.jpg

Potters Church has teamed up with Compassion to rebuild a dilapidated project facility in a very poor suburb of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This programme aims to give children the best opportunities to survive and thrive. This is achieved by supporting the whole family, educating parents on basic reading and writing and maths skills, workshops on income generating, nutritional information and healthcare.

Over 100 Ethiopian children are sponsored by individual members of the church through Compassion. Many more from other countries are also sponsored.

Victory Church Plant - Mae Sai, Asia

Ewan-Dao.jpg

The support you provide works towards assisting in establishing a church plant in Mae Sai in Thailand. Ewan Mcgregor, A missionary from our church and his team have a vision to start a nursery for children ages between one and five years old. Through financial help we allow and enable them to form relationships in their local community and also to generate income to support the planting of their church.

COMPASSION IN OUR CITY: STOKE ON TRENT

In 2018/2019 we will be financially supporting the following local projects. Alongside this many of our members support these projects individually through giving up their time to volunteer and reach many people within our city:

RUFF & RUBY

Ruff & Ruby promotes positive self-esteem & aspirations through innovative & progressive programs & services – being a collaboration of social & emotional learning, life coaching, mentoring, creative arts, VIP ‘life lifts’ for young people in need, social enterprise & employment opportunities.

Donations we have received will enable R&R to continue their VIP ministry, enabling staff to spend time with young people in need.

VOICE OF HOPE

Voice of Hope raises awareness of human trafficking locally, providing training events and presentations for schools & colleges. They also work with local partners to care for those that have been rescued from trafficking.

SANCTUS

Sanctus St. Mark's is a support group for refugees and people who are seeking asylum in the UK. We aim to walk alongside people who find their way to us, from all around the world, in a non-judgemental and safe environment.

Number 11, Burslem

Based in the heart of Burslem, Number 11 will provide long-term, sustainable, holistic and relationship based support to those most in need in our city. Centred around a pay as you feel café, providing free nutritious, healthy breakfasts and lunches, we’ll be working to deliver everything from crisis provision through to support into work.

restart

Restart provides support to ex-offenders who have been involved with the Criminal Justice System within the last two years; supported accommodation, helping individuals to achieve and maintain independent living; individually tailored training, volunteering and work placement opportunities; support to reconnect with family relationships whilst re-integrating into community life and partnership working to reduce homelessness and re-offending.

Stoke on Trent Foodbank

We don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why we provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

Walk Ministries

Walk Ministries is a ministry that works with ex-prisoners and individuals in rehabilitation. The donations that we receive allow us to assist Walk Ministries with their Polytunnel Project. This is a place where men can be part of a process of change, to see something grow and then patiently wait, care for and finally cultivate it.

As a church, we also give to those individuals in need
locally and ensure we are able to respond to
emergency situations where possible.
